"Blue Harmony" from the series Beyond Words No. 13

“Beyond Words” is a series dedicated to identity and interpersonal relationships. The recurring motifs of masks and chessboards in the paintings refer to the roles we assume, the relationships that shape us, and the tension between what we show others and what remains hidden.

Masks can symbolize both protection and an attempt to reveal one’s true self. The checkerboard evokes associations with the rules, strategies, and dynamics present in relationships. In these compositions, both motifs weave a personal narrative about the search for authenticity and balance.

Each painting in the series is a distinct interpretation of these themes. I like to leave the viewer room to interpret the symbols on their own and find their own meanings and experiences within them.
