artist biography

I create paintings in which material and emotion take center stage. I like strong, expressive texture and working with a palette knife—I apply paint in thick layers, building the painting almost like a sculpture. The impasto technique allows me to leave traces of movement, gesture, and emotion on the surface. I am inspired by people, women’s faces and figures, animals, bulls, but also by abstraction and free, intuitive forms. I don’t want to limit myself to a single motif—what the painting evokes is more important to me. In addition to canvas, I use plexiglass, treating it as a material that offers entirely different possibilities. Its transparency, light, and layered application allow me to create works with a more spatial and dynamic character. I paint with texture, color, and light. I seek an emotion that stays with the viewer longer than just a glance at the painting.
