artist biography
A visual artist who works primarily in the fields of painting and collage. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, where she completed a postgraduate program in painting and drawing at the Department of Graphic Arts and Painting in 2015. A member of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers. In her work, she explores both the natural world and the inner landscapes of human emotions and identity. She is interested in symbolism, allegory, and the emotional depth conveyed through visual metaphors. The artist’s two most important series of paintings are *Beyond Words* and *The Ether of Life*. The *Beyond Words* series centers on the motifs of masks and chessboards, alluding to themes of theater, social roles, and interpersonal relationships. Ether of Life, on the other hand, uses the subtle image of butterfly wings as an allegory of transience and sensitivity, encouraging the viewer to reflect on the fleeting nature of existence. Wasilewska’s works are held in private collections in Poland and abroad, including in Los Angeles (paintings from the *Ether of Life* series). This series also served as inspiration for the interior design of the Eter Hotel in Toruń, where selected works by the artist adorn the headboards in the guest rooms.
