artist biography
Jacek Dittwald Born in 1959 in Warsaw. Education: Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (1988–1993), Faculty of Fine Arts. Graduated with honors in painting in 1993. I paint because I like to paint. When I paint, I’m happy. I’m inspired by the earth, the sky, and the stars. My paintings contain various symbols and signs. This is my world. Why do I paint in the shape of a circle? There are probably several reasons. One of them is my fascination with circles, which have appeared in cultures around the world since the dawn of time. In my paintings, I try to depict signs and symbols that are important to humanity. I am convinced that archetypal symbols contain strength and power. As I paint, I change. I draw my inspiration from various sources. One of them is shamanic journeys deep into the earth using a drum. These journeys allow me to find some answers to questions that are important to me. I draw other insights from books and workshops on topics that interest me. I want my paintings to convey positive energy and vibrations associated with the joy of life. I draw additional inspiration from observing the earth, the sky, and the stars. Currently, another source of inspiration has joined the ones mentioned above: painting from the heart. Simply perceiving the world from this perspective allows me to discover and recognize what is beautiful and extraordinary. This is what my world is like right now. Another source of inspiration for me is music, as well as the scores of great composers such as Mozart.
